Connor Hellebuyck – An easy #1 for me and that is no offense to Vasi, the reigning Cup champion goalie. Hellebuyck stood on his head for the Jets and deserves the spot.
John Gibson – Easily the best goaltender on the worst team on this list. I really believe he is that good and just needs something in front of him.
Darcy Kuemper – Anyone see him against the Avs in the playoffs? Enough said.
Andrei Vasilevskiy – This is one that I would love to see in between the pipes for the Sabres for a couple dozens games. Is he that awesome he propels his team up? Or is the team in front of him that good where it masks his weaknesses?
Tuukka Rask – Tuukka Tuukka Tuukka. A very love hate relationship here for Bruins fans. Arguably their best goaltender of all time, but has yet to win it all.
Carey Price – Still so good and everyone wants to point to his stats and salary to drag him down. Put a decent team in front of him and they’re a Cup contender every year.
Carter Hart – A mini Carey Price. This guy should be top 5 for the next decade or so. The Flyers finally have a goalie!
Pekka Rinne – This was a tricky one. I always looked at him like we do Tuuka Rask. Soooo consistent but yet to win it all. Was it always the D in front of him and/or Torts or can he bounce back?
Frederik Andersen – Leafs fans may have blocked my site permanently if I left him off. He is one who I think needs a real defense in front of him. Will he get that soon in Toronto?
Jacob Markstrom – Did a lot with no defense in front of him for years. Will Gio help him move up even higher now?
Semyon Varlamov – Had an amazing season, but like his whole career we need to see consistency and knock on wood, no groin issues.
Joonas Korpisalo – Should easily skyrocket up this list in the coming years. So much potential, but will he be splitting time with Elvis soon?
Ben Bishop – These next 4 I threw together because they’re all so good, but they split time or now do split time so tough to put one dramatically up over the other until theyre legit the #1 guy. A healthy Ben Bishop though. Easily top 10.
Anton Khudobin – Is Bishop healthy or is Dobby the guy now for the Stars? Either Bishop is up high for years of awesomeness meaning we discount Dobby’s playoffs as “not enough”. Cant have both high up.
Robin Lehner – Who is the guy in Vegas or is this a split time situation until Flower leaves? Both are very good with Flower obviously starting to slow down, but he is still a very capable G.
Marc-Andre Fleury – I’m not ready to plummet Fleury down this list like we did when he was kicked out of Pittsburgh.
Jordan Binnington – Since the Cup win, he’s been the definition of average with a very good team in front of him. Need more consistency to have him in the top 10.
Philipp Grubauer – Everyone likes to think the Avs goaltending sucks, but I’d argue they are top 5 in the league with a great 1-2 tandem. But if were basing this list off 100% #1 guys, then he doesnt make the top 10.
Braden Holtby – I am one of the few that thinks Holtby can have a holy crap comeback season, but is that defense in front of him in Vancouver good enough to let that happen?
Henrik Lundqvist – Anyone on this list have something to prove more than him? He may be playing on the best team he’s had in his career this season with Washington as well.
