Ryan O’Reilly to be named the Blues’ 23rd captain in club history
Per Sportsnet: Ryan O’Reilly is set to be named the 23rd captain in St. Louis Blues history, The Athletic‘s Jeremy Rutherford reports. Rutherford adds an announcement could come later this week. O’Reilly will replace Alex Pietrangelo, who wore the “C” for four years but left the Blues in free agency to join the Vegas Golden Knights. “He will make a great captain. Good luck to him, no doubt he is the right choice,” Pietrangelo told Rutherford. Nathan MacKinnon – Top dog for me because he proved he can do it with literally anyone on his line. He was missing Rantanen for a large chunk of the season and played serious time with guys like Donskoi, Calvert, and Burakovsky on his line.
